Grand Forks City Council had a full day of Meetings Nov 14, 2017.
A Committee Of The Whole in the morning
followed by an In-Camera meeting
and then the regular meeting in the evening.
The COTW meeting had a couple of presentations. These were the:
OCP and Zoning Bylaw Update
and the Water Rates Study.
The OCP and Zoning Update was delivered by staff while the Water Rates Study was delivered by a staffer from Urban Systems, the contractor. Clearer pictorials are available from the agenda document.
The Regular meeting had a few more items. Some of the unsightly premises items generated heated conversation as well as a bit of an education as to what constitutes unsightly. There was even some heated discussion in the council reports.
The unique items in this meeting were:
Grand Forks Downtown Business Association Fee for Service Funding Agreement
Unsightly Property 987 Kettle River Drive Opportunity to be Heard
Unsightly Property 2314 Central Avenue Opportunity to be Heard
Unsightly Property 7746 McCallum View Drive Opportunity to be Heard
Zak Eburne Stoodley – Music in the Park 2018 request for support
Citizens for Safe Technology – Correspondence regarding microcell resolution and notice of wireless harm
City Council had a full day Jan 30.
They had Committee Of The Whole in the morning, budget sessions in the afternoon and a regular council meeting in the evening.
We have the council meetings for your viewing here. (sorry no budget session)
Notes for first time visitors:
The slices in the pie charts are actually buttons. Click on one and a new window opens. In that window you will be able to watch the meeting starting from the point where that topic begins.
At the end you will see the two meetings – you can watch them from the beginning here. Or skip to where ever you want of course – most people find the pie slice buttons an easier place to start.
Local act Sock Monkey kicked off the 2013 season of Music In The Park last night.
Sock Monkey entertaining at Music In The Park July 3, 2013
There were around 50 people of all ages in the audience and they were very appreciative of John Vere and Curt Garrison, a.k.a. ‘Sock Monkey‘. John and Curt entertained with an acoustic mix of country, bluegrass, contemporary and oldies using guitars and banjo. There was even a passing musician sitting on his scooter/trailer rig on the sidewalk nearby who appeared to be jamming along with an electric guitar. To ‘top if off’ John called out to a Paraglider high overhead, though it’s not likely he was heard. We can only wonder what the view from way up there was like … but you can get a closer view below and an in-person experience every Wednesday evening this summer at 7PM. Music In The Park in Gyro Park in Grand Forks. It might be hot in the daytime but the evenings are nice so come out and Enjoy!
