Traffic Fatality – Request for Witnesses

West Kootenay Traffic Services are continuing to investigate a vehicle crash that occurred on July 14, 2016 on Highway 3b near Fruitvale. A 26 year old male died as a result of injuries sustained during the crash. Police are seeking information from anyone that may have witnessed the crash or saw the tractor trailer unit hauling scrap cars immediately preceding the crash. Fatality In Fire That Also Destroys House in Blewett

RCMP_BannerThe Nelson RCMP, B.C. Coroners Service the Blewett, Beasley and Nelson Fire Departments are continuing to investigate the cause of a fire that claimed a life early Sunday morning.

At approximately 4:00 AM a fire was reported in the 3000 block of Fofonow Rd, Blewett. The three fire departments attended to discover the house fully engulfed. They eventually managed to bring the fire under control but not until the house was completely destroyed.

An examination of the scene discovered an individual who had perished in the fire. A positive identification of the person has not yet been established with an autopsy to be conducted in the near future.

No cause of the fire has been determined as yet.

Investigators from the RCMP, Nelson Fire Department and BC Coroners Service are continuing to sift through the rubble at this time in an attempt to determine it’s cause.

Fatal Snowmobile Accident (Nakusp)

On December 15th, 2014 at 11:23 am the Nakusp RCMP responded to a report of a snowmobile fatality in a remote area approximately 25 kilometres north of Nakusp.

The fatal collision occurred approximately 7 kilometres from Hwy 23 on a non-maintained section of the Halfway Hotsprings Forest Service Road. The collision is believed to have occurred sometime during the previous evening.

Two residents of Slocan Park, a 27 year old male and a 29 year old female, died as a result of the collision with a downed tree. Neither were wearing helmets at the time of the collision.

The identity of the male and female are not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin and continued investigation by the BC Coroners Service.

Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident Leads to Charges

On November 30, 2013, at approximately 9:02 p.m., Trail RCMP were dispatched to a singleĀ  vehicle motor vehicle crash involving an automobile on Hwy 3B just south of Fruitvale.

Investigation has revealed that the vehicle was driven by a Linda ENOKSEN 57 years old of the Genelle area with three male passengers when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve.

The vehicle was traveling east on Hwy 3B when it went off road right and down over an embankment. A male passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene while the driver sustained very serious injuries. The other two passengers received only minor injuries.

After a lengthy investigation Ms. ENOKSEN has been charged with the following.

Sec 255(2)cc – Impaired Causing Bodily Harm
Sec 255(3.1)cc – Driver Over .08 Causing Death
Sec 255(2.1)cc – Driver Over .08 Causing Bodily Harm
Sec 249(4)cc – Dangerous Driving Causing Death
Sec 249(3)cc – Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm

Ms ENOKSEN first appearance is set for January 08, 2015.
