GFSS is /having their 2021 GRAD Outdoors once again.
And you can watch Live Stream below or on the GRAD 2021 Post about it
COVID19
Please do not look to this outlet for lots of stories about the pandemic – there are already too many ‘information sources’ out there cluttering up the landscape and spreading misunderstanding feeding fears like an infodemic.
I do not wish to contribute to that.
I am not a health professional and will not be dispensing medical advice.
I will provide you links to official authorities regarding health and government. It is up to you to follow up on that – or not.
I strongly suggest that maintaining composure (and not giving in to fear) goes a long way to having a clear mind. That is essential to learn and plan to get through this period with outcomes we’d rather have than disasters we’d rather not.
IF local authorities deem it necessary hold public news ‘events’ (such as the media telephone news releases during flood response) I will attempt to bring those to you.
USEFUL LINKS
Interior Health now provides more information on COVID such as
locations where you can get tested on this page
locations and dates of public exposure on this page
The link on Public Exposures above is for Interior Health area only – if you are worried about some place or event you were at outside that area you should check with the BC CDC’s Public Exposure page.
BC Government News site for Health
British Columbia’s Centre for Disease Control (CDC) page on COVID
and their page on Public Exposures
Government of Canada’s Health Service page on COVID
World Health Organization
If you’re really interested Johns Hopkins has a Coronavirus Resource Centre with a real time tracking page
For local government you could check the RDKB or City of Grand Forks.
For general news I’d recommend responsible news outlets such as CBC, CTV, Global TV, National Post, Globe and Mail, New York Times, Washington Post, BBC and The Guardian for examples.
I’d advise you treat anything you read on an alternative news, alternative health, controversial or click-bait sites with suspicion. Especially miracle cures and conspiracy theories.
GFTV is a small, independent effort at bringing local TV-style news and events coverage to Grand Forks, B.C.
It’s a spin-off of the efforts started with the site Whats Up In Grand Forks(.com).
In whatsupgf we tried to show what was happening in the local community but found that real news didn’t really fit in the ‘booster’ role that whatsupgf was cast as … so we’re trying this as well. And if it works well we may fold whatsupgf into it.
Hey, Mr. Johnson…
Great community service you do, thanks so much!
Could you please post the date for the Santa Claus Parade? It is Friday the 5th of December 2014 at 7PM. The parade route will go through downtown GF…and we’re hoping that GFTV will be there again this year to record all the fun for those who are unable to brave the weather and join us. This is our most popular event because nothing brightens up a dark winter night like the sparkling fun of our Santa Claus parade.
Anyone can join the parade – it is FREE and tons of fun. Kindly contact gfparades@gmail.com to register or follow us on Facebook – Grand Forks BC Parades.
Les, You are a GENIUS! That being able to look at a poster board and zoom in to see the poster is amazing.
thanks, nanci
Now true confession….Della at Gazette said…”Nanci, you have to work the social media”…I say, “I am too old to work in the social media”!!!stamp, stamp, stamp!!! So here I am wanting to work the social media and not really knowing what to do. Les, I have filled in the information and sent you a poster about our “Songs for a Winter’s Night” concerts approaching.
Now the FACEBOOK OMG!!!…… stuff.
Some background. Les, I work at the GF Aquatic Centre. I am now making the facebook page at Grand Forks Recreation on Thurs, Fri, Sat, & Sun. I am very, very, very, very, new to this process and I am making some mistakes along the way.(…like do not “leave the page that you are working on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!or you f-ing lose it.) Sorry.
I want to promote the Grand Forks Choral Society and the GFCS Jr Choir’s Concerts Sat Nov 29th @7pm and Sun Nov 30th @2pm….”Songs for a Winter’s Night” ….Della said to send you the information and that you would get it started. Once she sees that I have done my homework, she will then “LIKE” it and social media will be super-charged!!!!
Let the magic begin.
Nanci
GFTV really needs to up their game, if it wants to be any kind of value. Any videos I’ve watched, are crap. Who’s your videographer? You all must have the cheapest pack that Google and/or Youtube offer. Is the content being uploading via 14.4K analog modem? Video constantly freezes. Audio is a complete joke. Indiscernible. Constant audio / video cut-outs. Delays. It’s of no value in these situations for the people who can’t make the town halls. Audio only would be much better. Just saying.
I am fairly sure you are referring to the Aug 26 meeting. I’ll apologize for the quality of the live stream for sure ‘cuz it was crap. But just so you know I’m forced to push the video stream through my cell phone using free software from Google. It is what it is. I take the recorded content and turn out a better version as soon as I can.
In case you did not know jrexis, no one pays me for any of this. There are no advertisers on my site. I am not rich, I am a pensioner and I pay for it and supply my own gear. I do it because I can and no one else appears to be stepping up … it’s a stupid reason I know but it is what it is.
Sometimes it works well and sometimes it’s crap. So while I do understand your criticisms and, again, apologize for the lack of quality and professionalism in the live stream it is what it is. Sometimes it will be better.
If you don’t like it then switch the channel. It’s a free web.
I’ll take your tone as an indicator of the sense of urgency you might be experiencing and not take it personally. Really – i get it.
Best of luck with the next period of time and stay safe.
Can you please add the Overcoming Barriers Living Life to the Fullest conference October 15, 2015 9-3 at Gospel Chapel I can email a poster if needed
do you archive the city council regular meetings by chance? I am hoping to review of few of last years meetings. thanks and keep up this important work
Yes I do. But you can see them from YouTube – I put all the meetings of a given year in play lists on YouTube.

And of course they can be viewed here on gftv.ca . . . for a limited time. Sometime later this year it may be going away but the YouTube videos will hang around indefinitely.
is there a Link that a person can use to access a council meeting that will be aired, without having to click here and there? Just a quick icon to click on the main page that says Live Feed!
That would be a good thing but unfortunately Facebook does not make it easy to
There was a button on the main page that said “Watch Live” but that came with the them pack I use on the website and I had not attached it to anything so I’ve temporarily disabled it.
If I was thinking of continuing with this website after I stop doing City Council this year I’d put more effort into correcting or adding these things but at this point I’m not sure this site will continue on.
So I have to apologize because I have no simple answer for you Stephen.
I haven’t been to this site for awhile Les but I do love the look. Great job as always.
