Highway Accident Takes Life of 28 Year Old Woman

On 2016-12-16 at approximately 1530 hours, an Southbound a grey 2 door coupe lost control on the compact snow and sand as it was legally passing another vehicle coming down Hwy 3B. The 2 door coupe spun around and hit a Northbound 4 Door Sedan head on with the back of the coupe.

The 28 year old female driver was transported to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) where she succumbed to her injuries. The 40 year old female driver of the 4 door sedan received minor injuries and was transported to KBRH where she was treated and released.

The West Kootenay Traffic Services, RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist, Trail RCMP and BC Coroner Service are investigating the cause of the crash.

Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Service and BC Ambulance attended and provided invaluable assistance to all involved.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time out of respect for the family.
