On July 26, 2014 at 1758 hours the Trail and Greater District Detachment, BC Ambulance Service and the Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue were notified of a serious motor vehicle accident in the Violin Lake area near Trail.
Police and fire rescue eventually located a single vehicle rollover on a gravel road near Casino. A 43 year old female from Trail was found deceased at the scene. A 38 year old male, also from Trail was found to have minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.
The police do not believe the deceased was wearing her seatbelt and this was a significant contributing factor in her death. The investigation into the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
