Drugs Bust [TRAIL]

On September 18, 2015 at approximately 2000hrs members of the Trail RCMP General Duty Section pulled over a vehicle which was traveling from Rossland to Trail. The three occupants of the vehicle were arrested for Possession of Drugs for the Purpose of Trafficking. During the search of the vehicle approximately 20 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine and 2 grams of black tar Heroin were located.

Numerous charges including Possession of Drugs for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Drugs, Breach of Undertaking, and Breach of Probation have been recommended against two of the occupants of the vehicle. These two persons are known to the police, and have been remanded in custody appearing in Rossland Court today. Their vehicle was towed from the scene and issued an inspection order as it was deemed unsuitable for Highway travel.
This was a proactive police investigation taken on by local uniformed members and is a significant seizure of Crystal Methamphetamine for this area.

Anyone with any information regarding drug trafficking is urged to contact their local RCMP Detachment.

City Considering Contentious Choices Chafes CUPE

If you were watching last week’s city council meetings you would have noticed that in the morning two representatives of the city employees were present and in the evening they were joined by every city worker.

Council declined to hear their words in the morning and since they were not on the evening agenda it was a bit of a silent message – nearly everyone in the gallery was holding a sign that read ‘RESPECT’.

All this has to do with the city’s plans for Asset Management and the required fiscal changes … one part of which sees 3 Full Time Equivalent worker positions being cut out of the system altogether.

Below you can see and listen to representatives of both sides. Mr. Allin for the City and Mr. Lawrence for the Workers.

I gave them as much time as they wanted to present their piece. No words were left out or edited. A coin toss was used to decide which one comes first and which comes after – CUPE won that. Below the two videos is the city council meetings of that day (the morning one is the Live stream but the evening one is the recorded one because the live stream had transmission dropouts)

Park In The Park 2015

Park In The Park took place on August 16.

The Wildfire situation was a concern for many here about and some wondered if the event might be cancelled but luckily the weather was good, people and their vehicles were able to make it through to Grand Forks and the event went on as planned.

It happened in City Park and this year the Fire Bells and Fanfare event shared the space … so an added treat were the Fire Trucks on display.

Below we have a play list of videos to share of the event.

First up is an short interview with the organizers, Mel and Lawrence Morgan. Next we have an RCMP demonstration of why you want to use your seat belts properly. Finally there are some 360 degree videos – NOTE: you might have to use Google’s Chrome web browser to view these.

Thank you Mel and Lawrence for all your time and effort to bring all these people and machines together for this great event in our town.

As they say in the interview this takes time and work and they could use help getting it organized in the year before it happens so if you’d like to help out visit their web page and contact them. Grand Forks Park in The Park
