West Kootenay Traffic Services are continuing to investigate a vehicle crash that occurred on July 14, 2016 on Highway 3b near Fruitvale. A 26 year old male died as a result of injuries sustained during the crash. Police are seeking information from anyone that may have witnessed the crash or saw the tractor trailer unit hauling scrap cars immediately preceding the crash. Fruitvale – A 24-year-old man is in custody after police responded to a Fruitvale residence on Sunday night where a 52-year-old man was suffering from life-threatening injuries.
On December 28, 2014 at 9:51 pm, the Trail & Greater District RCMP received a report of a man suffering serious, life-threatening injuries at a residence in Fruitvale, BC. Officers arrested a suspect without incident at the scene while the 52-year-old resident was rushed to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Pending notification of next of kin the family has requested that the name of the deceased not be released.
The suspect and victim were known to each other; the suspect remains in police custody pending further investigation.
The BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit, with assistance from Kootenay Boundary Regional District RCMP and Trail & Greater District RCMP resources, continues the investigation.

On December 10th, between 12:00 and 2:30 in the afternoon, unknown person(s) broke into a family’s home on Mollar Road in Fruitvale. The person(s) stole the family’s belongings, their Christmas presents, and maliciously damaged the interior of their home.
The family reported that a stranger had knocked on their door the previous day, claiming to be looking for his friend. It is not certain that the two events are related, but police are asking people to report any similar suspicious activities.
